Air Cooler vs AIO: What Should You Choose?

Both tower air coolers and all-in-one liquid coolers can work well when properly matched to the processor and case.

Air cooling

Air coolers are mechanically simple and can offer excellent value. The major fit checks are socket support, cooler height, memory clearance and case airflow.

AIO cooling

AIOs move heat to a radiator and can provide more mounting flexibility around the CPU socket. You must verify radiator size, thickness, fan clearance and supported mounting positions.

Choose for the actual build

Cooling requirements depend on the CPU’s behavior, workload, noise target and case airflow. Bigger is not automatically better if the case cannot support the configuration cleanly.
